My name is Polly and I began working with clay during the pandemic, when a daily, grounding ritual grew into a committed practice. In 2021 I founded Yuan Workshop—named after the childhood nickname my grandparents gave me—it carries the sound of simplicity and childhood joy, which I hope to echo in my work.

I make functional clay pieces for everyday life. My work centres on the quiet bonds objects form through handling—how a favourite mug can hold time and feeling. I build in small batches, mainly by hand, slab, and Nerikomi. Surfaces are kept materially honest, mainly with minimal transparent glaze.

Alongside tableware, I’m extending clay into the wider home—lamp bases, ceramic clocks, wall hangers, brush holders and occasional pieces. I wish to make objects that sit close to daily ritual, invite playfulness, and leave the space for connection.

I accept commissions, collaborate with shops and creatives, and was selected as a TOAST New Maker in 2024. My pieces are available through releases throughout the year, with updates shared via Instagram. International shipping is available.
